Teacherly Terms of Service

By creating a Teacherly account or using Teacherly in any way, you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use Teacherly. In these Terms, "Teacherly", "we", "us" and "our" refer to Teacherly, which operates as a sole proprietorship in California, United States. "You" refers to the person using the service.

Teacherly is intended for teachers, educators, school staff, and other adults involved in education. You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of legal majority where you live, to create an account. Teacherly is not intended for children to create their own accounts. If you are using Teacherly on behalf of a school, district, or organization, you confirm that you have the authority to accept these Terms for that organization.

You need an account to use most of Teacherly. When you register, you agree to provide accurate information and to keep it up to date. One account is intended for one individual educator unless we offer a specific school or team plan that says otherwise. You are responsible for all activity that happens under your account.

Keep your password confidential and do not share your login with others. Please tell us promptly at teacherlyapp@gmail.com if you believe someone has accessed your account without permission. We take reasonable steps to protect Teacherly, but no online service can be completely secure, and we cannot guarantee that unauthorized access will never occur.

You keep ownership of the original lesson plans, documents, worksheets, presentations, notes, calendar entries, and other original materials you create in Teacherly, subject to any third-party rights that may apply to material you incorporate. Teacherly does not claim ownership of your original teaching materials.

To operate the service, you give us a limited, non-exclusive license to host, store, back up, process, transmit, reformat and display your content — only as needed to provide Teacherly to you and to features you choose to use (for example, printing, exporting, or sharing something yourself). This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies retained in routine backups or as required by law.

You may upload files and paste material into Teacherly. You are responsible for making sure you have the necessary rights and permissions for everything you upload, including copyrighted materials, purchased resources, images, and content belonging to your school or a third party.

Please do not upload highly sensitive information — such as medical records, government identification numbers, or confidential student records — unless Teacherly specifically supports that type of information and you have appropriate authorization to do so.

Teacherly offers optional AI-assisted features that can help draft lesson plans, activities, printables, and similar materials. AI-generated material may contain errors, omissions, or inaccuracies. You should always review and edit AI-generated content before using it with students.

We do not guarantee that AI-generated educational content is accurate, complete, age-appropriate, standards-aligned, or suitable for any particular classroom, learner, curriculum, or jurisdiction. Teacherly is a teaching and productivity tool. It does not replace your professional judgment as an educator, and you remain responsible for what you use in your classroom.

Teacherly provides templates, printables, activities, and other educational resources. These are offered for use in your own teaching practice. Unless a specific resource says otherwise, you may use, print, and adapt these resources for your classroom, but you may not resell them, redistribute them as your own product, or publish them as a competing resource library.

When using Teacherly, you agree not to:

• Break the law or use Teacherly for any unlawful purpose
• Upload content that infringes someone else's copyright, trademark, or other rights
• Upload harmful, harassing, hateful, or sexually explicit material, or anything harmful to minors
• Attempt to access other users' accounts, content, or data
• Probe, scan, reverse engineer, disrupt, or overload the service or its infrastructure
• Use automated tools to scrape or bulk-download the resource library
• Resell, sublicense, or commercially redistribute Teacherly or its resources without permission
• Misrepresent your identity, affiliation, or authority

Teacherly, including its software, design, branding, generated resource library, templates, and other materials we provide, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not transfer any ownership of Teacherly to you. You receive a limited, revocable, non-transferable right to use the service in accordance with these Terms.

Teacherly offers a free version. Free accounts keep your saved work and give you access to core planning, calendar, printable, presentation, and classroom tool features, with certain limits — for example, limits on AI generations, premium resources, and advanced customization. The free version may include advertisements. We may adjust the features and limits included in the free version over time.

Teacherly Plus is our optional paid subscription. Plus is intended to provide an ad-free experience together with the premium features offered at the time of your subscription, which currently include unlimited lesson creation, full AI tools, full printable customization, premium resources and templates, advanced presentation features, advanced classroom tools, and unlimited saving. Subscribing is entirely optional — if you do not subscribe, you can keep using the free version of Teacherly.

New accounts currently receive a 30-day free trial of Teacherly Plus. No payment information is required to start the trial unless our payment provider requires it. Your trial end date is shown in your account. You may cancel at any time before the trial ends. When a trial ends without a subscription, your account moves to the free plan and your saved work stays intact.

Teacherly Plus currently costs $8.99 per month after the free trial. Subscriptions renew automatically each month until cancelled. Payments are processed through Stripe; we do not receive or store your full payment card number. Applicable taxes may be added. We may change pricing in the future and will provide appropriate notice before a change applies to your subscription.

You can cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. When you cancel, you keep Plus access through the end of the billing period you have already paid for, and then your account moves to the free plan. Cancelling does not delete your account, lessons, printables, presentations, calendar entries, or other saved work.

Refunds are handled according to the refund policy presented to you at the time of purchase and according to applicable law, including any statutory rights you may have where you live. If you believe you were billed in error, contact us at teacherlyapp@gmail.com.

The free version of Teacherly may contain advertisements. Teacherly Plus, including the 30-day trial, is intended to be ad-free. We do not use student information for targeted advertising. We aim to keep ads out of focused work areas such as the lesson editor, worksheet editor, presentation screens, and classroom presentation mode.

Teacherly relies on third-party services — for example, hosting, authentication, database, payment processing, and AI technology providers — to operate. Teacherly may also link to third-party websites or resources. We are not responsible for third-party services or content, and your use of them may be governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

Our Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how we share it. By using Teacherly, you agree to the practices described there.

Teacherly is designed for teachers and educators. It is not intended for children under 13 to create their own accounts, and we do not knowingly allow them to do so. We make no claim of COPPA certification or verification. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us at teacherlyapp@gmail.com so we can address it.

Teachers may choose to enter classroom information into Teacherly features such as planning, calendars, rosters, groups, or classroom tools. You and your school are responsible for making sure any student information you enter or upload is handled in accordance with applicable laws, your school or district policies, and any required permissions or agreements.

Please only enter the minimum student information you actually need — for example, first names or initials rather than full records — and do not upload sensitive student records unless Teacherly specifically supports that and you have authorization.

Teacherly is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, that content or resources will be accurate or suitable for your classroom, or that any defect will be corrected. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Teacherly and its owners, employees, and suppliers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or loss of goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of the service. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to Teacherly will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim or fifty U.S. dollars. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Teacherly and its owners, employees, and suppliers from claims, damages, losses, and reasonable legal fees arising out of your content, your use of Teacherly, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of the rights of another person or of applicable law.

You may stop using Teacherly and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these Terms, creates risk or legal exposure, or is used in a way that harms other users or the service. Where reasonable, we will give notice and an opportunity to resolve the issue. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — such as intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification — will continue to apply.

We are actively developing Teacherly. We may add, change, or remove features, resources, plans, and limits. We may also set reasonable technical limits, such as storage or generation limits, to keep the service running well for everyone. We will try to give notice of significant changes that materially reduce a paid feature you rely on.

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page, and for material changes we will provide additional notice where appropriate. Continuing to use Teacherly after the changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of laws rules, and by applicable United States federal law. Nothing in this section removes any mandatory consumer protections available to you where you live.
