Teacherly Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 7, 2026
Teacherly is an educational software platform for teachers and educators. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and when it may be shared. We have written it in plain language so it is easy to follow.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information you give us directly, information created as you use Teacherly, and a limited amount of technical information collected automatically. The sections below describe each type.
2. Information You Provide
This includes anything you type, upload, or submit — your account details, your teaching materials, files you upload, calendar entries, classroom notes, support messages, and the instructions you give to AI features.
3. Account Information
Account information may include:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Password credentials (stored using our authentication provider, not as plain text visible to us)
- Account preferences and settings
- Subscription and plan status, including trial dates
- Other information necessary to operate your account
4. Teacher-Created Content
Teacher-created materials may include lesson plans, worksheets and printables, presentations, activities, classroom resources, calendar entries, notes, class or group setups, and other materials you choose to store. These materials are intended to remain private to your account unless you choose to share, export, print, or publish them using a Teacherly feature.
5. Uploaded Files
You may upload documents, images, and other files. We store and process them so you can access, edit, print, and reuse them. Please avoid uploading highly sensitive information unless Teacherly specifically supports it and you have appropriate authorization.
6. Calendar and Classroom Information
If you use the calendar, planner, rosters, groups, or classroom tools, we store the entries you create — such as scheduled lessons, reminders, class names, and any names or notes you choose to enter. What goes in is entirely your choice; see the Student Information section below.
7. AI Features
When you use an AI-assisted feature, the prompts, instructions, and content you submit are sent to an AI technology provider so the requested output can be generated and returned to you. This processing happens only to provide the feature you asked for. We do not use your content to train AI models.
8. Payment Information
Subscription payments are processed by Stripe. Stripe collects and processes your payment card details directly. We do not store full payment card numbers. We receive limited billing information such as subscription status, renewal dates, the last four digits or card brand where provided, and payment outcomes, so we can manage your plan.
9. Automatically Collected Information
Like most online services, we may automatically receive technical information such as IP address, browser and device type, general location inferred from IP address, pages visited, actions taken in the app, timestamps, and error or diagnostic logs. We use this to keep Teacherly secure, diagnose problems, and improve the product.
10. Cookies and Similar Technologies
We use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, keep the service secure, and understand how Teacherly is used. Where advertising is shown to free accounts, advertising partners may also use cookies or similar technologies subject to their own policies. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though some features may not work correctly without them.
11. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain Teacherly
- Create and manage your account and keep you signed in
- Save, sync, and display your lessons, resources, and calendar
- Provide AI-assisted features you choose to use
- Process subscriptions, trials, billing, and cancellations
- Provide customer support and respond to your messages
- Keep the service secure and prevent fraud and abuse
- Understand how features are used so we can improve them
- Show advertising to free accounts where applicable
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms
12. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in these situations: with service providers who help us operate Teacherly, with your direction (for example, when you export or share something), to comply with law or valid legal process, to protect the rights, safety, and security of Teacherly and its users, and in connection with a business transfer such as a merger or acquisition, where this policy will continue to apply to the transferred information.
13. Service Providers
We use third-party service providers for functions such as hosting, authentication, databases, payment processing, AI functionality, email, analytics, security, and, where applicable, advertising. These providers process information only as necessary to provide, maintain, secure, improve, or operate the service, subject to applicable agreements and law.
14. Stripe and Payment Processing
Stripe processes subscription payments for Teacherly. Your card details are handled by Stripe under its own privacy policy and security practices. We receive only the subscription and billing status information we need to manage your plan.
15. Advertising
Free accounts may see advertisements. Teacherly Plus, including the 30-day trial, is intended to be ad-free. We do not use student information for behavioral or targeted advertising, and we do not sell teachers' personal information. If we work with an advertising provider in the future, we will update this policy to describe that relationship.
16. Analytics
We may use analytics and diagnostic tools to understand how Teacherly is used, which features are helpful, and where errors occur. This information is used to improve the product and reliability, not to build advertising profiles of students.
17. AI and Technology Providers
Content you submit to an AI feature is processed by an AI technology provider to generate the requested output. This is limited to what is needed to deliver the feature. AI-generated content may contain errors and should always be reviewed before classroom use.
18. Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including access controls that keep each teacher's saved work scoped to their own account and encrypted connections between your browser and our service. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us at teacherlyapp@gmail.com.
19. Data Retention
We keep your account information and saved content for as long as your account is active, so your work remains available to you — including if you move from Teacherly Plus back to the free plan. We keep other information only as long as needed for the purposes described here, or as required for legal, security, fraud-prevention, accounting, or backup reasons.
20. Account and Data Deletion
You may request deletion of your account and personal information at any time by contacting teacherlyapp@gmail.com. We will process the request subject to legal, security, fraud-prevention, backup, or other legitimate retention requirements. Copies may remain in routine backups for a limited period before being overwritten. You can also export a backup of your work from Settings before deleting anything.
21. Children's Privacy
Teacherly is a teacher-facing service. We do not intentionally collect personal information directly from children under 13 for account creation, and children under 13 should not create Teacherly accounts. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information for an account, contact teacherlyapp@gmail.com and we will take appropriate steps.
22. Student Information
Teachers may choose to enter classroom information into features such as lesson planning, calendars, classroom tools, rosters, or behavior tracking. You are responsible for ensuring you have appropriate authority to enter student information and for complying with applicable privacy laws, school policies, and agreements. Teacherly does not knowingly use student information for behavioral advertising. We recommend entering the least amount of student information necessary, such as first names or initials.
23. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access the personal information we hold about you, correct inaccurate information, request deletion, obtain a copy of your information, or object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise many of these directly in the app through your account settings and the export tools, or by contacting teacherlyapp@gmail.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
24. California Privacy Rights
Certain California privacy rights may apply depending on our business and your circumstances; not every California privacy law applies to every business. Where they do apply, California residents may have:
- The right to know and access the personal information collected about them
- The right to request deletion of personal information
- The right to correct inaccurate personal information
- The right to opt out of certain sales, sharing, or targeted advertising, where applicable
- The right not to be discriminated against for exercising applicable privacy rights
We do not sell teachers' personal information. To make a request, contact teacherlyapp@gmail.com with the details of your request.
25. Other U.S. State Privacy Rights
Residents of other U.S. states with comprehensive privacy laws may have similar rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of their personal information, and to opt out of targeted advertising where applicable. Whether these rights apply depends on the law in your state and on our business. Requests can be sent to teacherlyapp@gmail.com, and you may appeal a decision by replying to our response.
26. International Users
Teacherly is operated from the United States, and information may be processed and stored in the United States or in other countries where our service providers operate. Privacy laws in those countries may differ from those where you live. By using Teacherly, you understand that your information may be transferred and processed in this way.
27. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this policy as Teacherly develops. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page, and for material changes we will provide additional notice where appropriate. Please review this page from time to time.
